Best alternative Christmas markets in Manchester to visit in 2021

You can’t beat the classic Manchester Christmas Markets, with mulled wines aplenty and an abundance of festive foods to feast on.

But what if there was an option where you could avoid all the hustle and bustle? An option where you didn’t have to squeeze your way through big crowds for a Yorkshire pudding wrap?

Look no further because Manchester has plenty of alternative Christmas markets where you can pick up all kinds of quirky gifts.

From ethical artisans to diverse foods, Manchester is spoiling us with alternative Christmas markets this year.

Hatch Sustainable Christmas Market

6 November, Oxford Road

In the words of Hatch themselves - “Christmas shouldn’t cost the earth!”

This year, Hatch has invited the team behind the successful Stretford Market to bring their sustainable market to the city centre on Saturday, November 6.

The market will be filled with ethical, diverse and food-focused vendors for one day only.

It’s main aim is to champion some of the most environmentally friendly and ethical artisans and producers that are local to the city.

From fresh artisan produce to micro greens produced by friendly and skilled small businesses, what more could you want this Christmas?

For vintage clothes lovers, look no further, there will be plenty on offer at Hatch as well as up-cycled vinyl, wood and fabrics.

Perhaps it’s time to ditch the usual pair of socks and opt for a beautifully hand-made gift for your loved one this year.

You can buy tickets on the day but it is advised you pre-book.

The festive stalls will feature goods from local traders with plenty of options for quirky hand-made Christmas presents.

Makers Market

Makers Market is the alternative Christmas market with stacks of local products, local ingredients, and materials.

Every weekend throughout November and December in the same location, this Artisanmarket will provide a unique shopping experience.

Forget loud crowds of people who are eating, drinking and being merry, and grab some perfect sustainable gifts for a loved one.

Currently known as Manchester’s Detroit pizzeria and margarita bar, the venue will be transforming just in time for Christmas.

The outdoor beer garden terraces have had a winter makeover equipped with tequila cabins, cosy campfires and tipis.

Why not try out their festive drink ‘The Fluffernator’? A hot dark and milk chocolate with toasted Italian meringue and a Detroit Cookie on top. Wonderful.
