Best alcohol-free prosecco: Top bottles for non-alcoholic fizz that sparkles

From Christmas and New Year’s Eve to birthdays, weddings and parties, a bottle of bubbles is usually part of the equation.

But if, for whatever reason, you’re not up for a traditional flute of sparkling, the choices for joining in with the celebrations are usually woeful. You may be left to make do with juice, a soft drink, or a laughable mocktail, which will do nothing to help the party vibe.

Yet with the continuing popularity of low and no-alcohol tipples, the good news is that there’s no reason to feel left out in the cold.

Along with boozeless beer, spirits and wine, there are more bottles of alcohol-free fizz around than ever before. Whether you’re teetotal, practising mindful drinking, the designated driver, or simply keeping an eye on your units, prosecco - minus the hangover, thanks - is now on the menu.

In most cases, these bottles are made with the same grapes but have the alcohol carefully removed to leave you with doppelganger levels of flavour. Some may contain very low traces of booze so always check the label carefully before filling your flute.

Aside from the obvious health benefits, alcohol-free prosecco is miles cheaper than its stronger sister, in contrast to booze-free spirits which are around the same price as its harder counterpart.

We’ve rounded up the best bottles of booze-free fizz to snap up for your next soiree or night in. There are saintly versions from big-name brand names as well as options from smaller independents for those looking for something a bit different.

Fill her up!

Bottega 0% Sparkling White 75cl

For a bottle that can persuade barflies away from their boozy chalices, look no further than Bottega. The prosecco brand has flipped its signature gold casing for its zero-alcohol bottle, gilding only its foil and part of the label so you can see the pale gold-coloured liquid within. Fresh and lively with an intense palate, this is one chic way to wet your teetotal palate.

Nozeco Alcohol Free

One of the market leaders, Nozeco already has the seal of approval from hundreds of teetotal fans. No wonder: the de-alcoholised grape juice looks just like the real thing with a stream of fine bubbles that make it hard to tell apart from genuine Prosecco. And the flavour isn’t bad either; expect strong fruity notes and sweetness with a well-balanced finish. Best served chilled, like all bubbles.

La Gioiosa 0.00% Alcohol Free Sparkling

La Gioiosa makes some truly cracking Prosecco; you’ll find it on the top end of most taste tests. Its booze-free bottles are no exception, spiriting away a bronze medal in the 2020 IWSC (International Wine & Spirit Competition) awards. While it passes the presentation check with pretty labels, foiling and a natural cork topper, it’s the liquid within that makes it a top contender for non-alcoholic prosecco. Prepare your palate for a delicious wash of bright green apples and pears and juicy berries.

Kylie Minogue Alcohol-Free Sparkling Rosé 2022

Think pink and you think Kylie Minogue: her eponymous brand of rosé wine with Benchmark Drinks has become the number-one rosé brand in the UK with over eight million bottles polished off since she popped the cork.

While her Prosecco Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc and Côtes de Provence might have you spinning around after one too many, her No Alcohol Sparkling Rosé mirrors the crisp flavours and acidic balance of its boozy counterparts and reflects the growing thirst amongst consumers for clean alternatives.

Looking much the same as the other bottles in her line – slender, elegant, pink – the ‘wine’ is made using premium grapes and green tea from the Yunnan province of China while being produced without generating any alcohol. The flavour profile, while not comparable to a goblet of Whispering Angel, is not disappointing: in fact, it’s surprisingly complex and finely balanced.

The best bit? There are just 22 calories per 100ml – 80 calories less than a standard glass of Prosecco – making this a welcome change of pace at even the most raucous of parties. Launched by Kylie initially as a flight of fancy, her mission has since evolved to produce quality wine, and this alcohol-free alternative is no exception.

Il Gusto Pearl Cuvee Alcohol-free Sparkling Wine 750ml

Glitter in a bottle? You have our attention. This Cuvee isn’t a classic grape-fuelled vintage. Give it a shake and watch iridescent glitter spiral around the bottle, making it sparkling in more ways than one. Inhale delicate notes of white florals, grapefruit and orange rind, a blend that can be mixed with soda water and a citrus slice for the zestiest tipple.
