Bessbrook crash leaves car on its roof

A car has ended up on its roof in a road smash tonight.

Details are unclear, but images from the scene show the vehicle on its roof and what appears to be glass on the road.

Earlier this evening the PSNI tweeted that there had been a road traffic collision in the High Street/Mill Road area of Bessbrook, Co Armagh.

They added: “As a result of collision a telegraph pole with live wires is blocking the road near [a] local funeral directors. Avoid area and follow diversions. Road will be closed for some time.”

Sinn Féin councillor in the area, Declan Murphy confirmed in a tweet that the road into High Street “from the Mill Hill Bessbrook end is currently closed due to an incident”.

He said a car “has collided with an electricity pole” but that the “circumstances are unclear”.

There have been no statements as yet, from either police or the Ambulance Service, regarding the person who was driving the car.
