Besiktas 'join race' for Ryan Porteous as transfer battle for Hibs star heats up

Besiktas have joined the race to sign Hibs defender Ryan Porteous, according to a report.

The centre back has impressed at Easter Road but has made some high profile errors for Jack Ross’ side.

He is still wanted by many clubs with Galatasaray believed to be leading the race to sign him.

But now Turkish outlet Fanatik say Besiktas will battle their rivals to sign the 22-year-old.

They say he would initially join to challenge for a first team spot and would be unlikely to go straight into the squad.

And it’s believed Besiktas want to get a deal done by the time they head to Slovakia on a pre-season training camp on July 5.

Hibs don’t want to lose Porteous and would hold out for a substantial fee, with a number of their young players being chased.

Kevin Nisbet attracted English Championship interest in January and a good Euro 2020 performance could see further bids.

Teen left back Josh Doig has also been subject of interest from the likes of Watford and Arsenal, with Hibs holding out for a £5m fee.

Porteous was unfortunate to miss out on the Scotland squad for Euro 2020 and has made 91 appearances for Hibs already.
