‘Besharam Rang’ singer Caralisa Monteiro on plagiarism allegations: Vishal and Sheykhar are flag bearers of original compositions

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s song, ‘Besharam Rang’ from ‘Pathaan’ has been grabbing eyeballs for not so good reasons of late. Of all the controversies surrounding the song, one of them is that of plagiarism.

Many have alleged that the song is copied from Jain’s track, ‘Makeba’. When asked ‘Besharam Rang’ singer Caralisa Monteiro about the same, she said that she has only read about it. The singer added that as she has not heard of Makeba, she cannot comment on it. Caralisa added that Vishal and Sheykhar have been flag bearers of original compositions and it is normal for artists to be inspired. However, they wouldn't plagiarise, the singer told IndiaToday.in.

Caralisa also shared her experience associating with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika. She said that she didn’t interact with the superstars personally as the actors are never present in the recording studio. However, she revealed that she has sung songs before that have been picturised on Shah Rukh Khan and that includes, ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Don’.

Caralisa revealed that she has been a huge fan of Shah Rukh, his aura and what he has achieved. The singer also went on to say that she has sung a lot of ad films featuring them.

Calling ‘Besharam Rang’ fun, quirky and stylish, the singer added that the song will resonate with the youth and will be the most played-out track this festive season.
