Besart Berisha to face disciplinary hearing over unsporting conduct charge

Melbourne Victory striker Besart Berisha will appear before the FFA's disciplinary committee this week after being charged with striking a match official.

Berisha was yellow carded following an incident where he was seen to push the fourth official during the Victory's 2-2 draw with Adelaide United on Friday night.

Berisha had clashed with Adelaide's Jordan Elsey near the sideline in the final minutes of the first half at Adelaide Oval, with the score still at 1-1.

The fourth official stepped in to pull them apart, but Berisha eventually appeared to push the official away.

"The MRP has determined that, on the basis of the evidence reviewed, Berisha has a case to answer whether he committed the offence of 'Unsporting conduct toward a match official'," the FFA said in a statement on Monday.

"The MRP has issued a disciplinary notice to Berisha and referred the incident to the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee for hearing as to whether the offence has been committed, and if so, what sanction should be imposed."

Berisha could be facing a suspension or fine over the incident.
