Bertie Auld funeral: Celtic icon remembered as football stars pay tribute to Lisbon Lion

Names from across Scottish football have paid tribute to Bertie Auld as the Celtic icon was laid to rest today.

The former midfielder - who lived in Strathaven for part of his life - passed away at the age of 83 earlier this month and tributes have flooded in since his passing.

Auld's funeral was held earlier today at St Mary’s, Calton, and the funeral cortège made its way past Celtic Park afterwards.

The service was broadcast on big screens at Parkhead.

Auld is famed for his crucial role in Celtic's 1967 European Cup winning side and he also had stints as a manager at Hibs, Partick Thistle, Hamilton and Dumbarton.

Thistle will hold their own tribute for Auld at this evening's Scottish Cup third round match against Dunfermline. Supporters can lay scarves or any other tributes in Auld's memory on McParland Way.

Leicester City and former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers was spotted at the noon service amongst a host of other names.

Fellow ex-Parkhead manager Neil Lennon was also in attendance, alongside the current Hoops squad, led by Ange Postecoglou.

Lisbon Lions Jim Craig and John Clark were there and Rangers were represented by managing director Stewart Robertson and director of finance and administration Andrew Dickson.

Partick Thistle legend Alan Rough attended the service.

A further tribute to Auld will take place this weekend at the Premiership match between Celtic and Aberdeen.
