Bernie Ecclestone 'assuming' heist of daughter Tamara's £50 million jewellery collection was 'inside job'

Former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has had his say on the heist of daughter Tamara's £50 million jewellery collection from her lavish west London home.

Three thieves managed to find their way into Tamara's £70 million home on Friday, located in the Kensington.

Despite 24 hour security, the thieves managed to make their escape, and Scotland Yard is yet to make arrests.

Tamara, husband Jay Rutland and daughter Sophia, 5, had boarded a private jet to fly off to Lapland for Christmas only hours before the crime took place.

Now dad Bernie, 89, is throwing his hat into the ring with a fresh perpective.

He told MailOnline : "I don't have all the facts but given the security at the house, I'm assuming it was an inside job.

"It's an awful thing to happen just after she had left the house to go to Lapland. Although maybe it's better that she wasn't in at the time. "

Bernie continued that he'd tried to get through to Tamara on the phone but had had no luck.

Among the items believed to have been taken are precious earrings and an £80,000 Cartier bangle.

It's not known whether two engagement rings, worth an eye-watering £250,000 each, were taken.

Tamara herself hasn't remained silent, sharing a mysterious Bible passage to Instagram - hinting that she'll get to the bottom of what happened.

The passage reads: "For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open..."

A source told The Sun of the robbery: "An estimated £50 million worth of jewellery has been stolen from inside Tamara's safe and Jay's safe.

"Whoever did this was in the house for 50 minutes in total and had time to smash open the safes that are hidden in Tamara's dressing room and Jay's dressing room.

"Neither would be easy to find."

A spokesperson for Tamara said that the robbery had indeed taken place: "I can sadly confirm that there has been a home invasion. Internal security are co-operating with police in this matter.

"Tamara and family are well but obviously shaken by the incident."
