Bernd Leno shares what Arsenal players discussed at half time in Aston Villa comeback

Arsenal players told each other they have "nothing to lose" during the half time break of the comeback against Aston Villa.

That's according to goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who pointed out that the Gunners were in a difficult position trailing 1-0 at home and down to 10 men.

Newly-promoted Villa took the lead midway through the first half at the Emirates before Ainsley Maitland-Niles was shown a red card just before the break.

At the interval the Gunners stars decided they would play with a sense of fearlessness, given the uphill battle that faced them in the second half - and the plan worked.

"I think the win showed a lot of our quality in our mind. In the dressing room we spoke at half-time that we had nothing to lose," Leno told BBC Sport.

"We were already [losing] 1-0 and with one less player, and we can fight and we can win this game and the team showed a great response.

"At the end we had so many good chances to score and the win was well deserved."

Nicolas Pepe equalised for Arsenal on the hour mark, netting his very first goal for the Gunners from the penalty spot.

But Villa immediately pegged Arsenal back with Wesley restoring the away side's lead.

With time rapidly running out Calum Chambers found the back of the net to draw Arsenal level once more before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang bagged the winner with five minutes to go.
