Bernd Leno has thanked fans for their support following his injury against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Arsenal goalkeeper was stretchered off in the first half of Saturday's defeat following a clash with Seagull's striker Neal Maupay.
Leno was visibly incensed over Maupay's role in the collision and his reaction to the challenge sparked fears that he could well be out for the rest of the season.
On Twitter, he thanked Gunners fans for their support and promised to work hard in order to return quickly.
He tweeted: "Thank you for your support and getting well wishes.
"I’m going to work hard to come back on the pitch as soon as possible."
Whilst Leno is set to miss some football, initial fears that the injury could be long-term have been eased slightly.
The German could well miss the rest of the season after suffering minor ligament damage but there is optimism that he could well be back in six weeks.
That would mean Leno would likely be fit enough to resume his role as first-choice goalkeeper in time for next season, even with the quick turnaround expected between the end of this campaign and the start of 2020/21.
For the time being, back-up keeper Emiliano Martínez is expected to deputise in goal for the remainder of the campaign.
He conceded twice in the 2-1 defeat to Brighton after Niclas Pepe had given the Gunners the lead.
Martinez said he was pleased to get an opportunity in goal but hoped Leno would be back quickly.
He said: "I spoke to him [Leno] at half-time and he felt like he stretched his knee, twisted it a little bit, we couldn't see from so far away.
"But as a goalkeeper, in the goalkeepers' union, I don't want him to get injured, it's a big loss for the team but I'm more than prepared.
"We are very close, me and Bernd, so I wish him a speedy recovery and if I have to keep his place then I will do my best."
