Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has hinted that he could leave the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window.
The Germany international has less than two years remaining on his Gunners contract and after falling down the pecking order in recent weeks, with Aaron Ramsdale taking his place, he could look to leave the club in the near future.
football.london understands that the former Bayer Leverkusen shot-stopper is looking increasingly likely to move on from the Emirates when the January transfer window opens in a few months' time.
Inter Milan have been credited with an interest in Leno amid uncertainty over his Arsenal future, with the San Siro looking like a possible destination for the German.
Now, Leno has broken his silence on his situation at the Gunners, with Ramsdale starting, and impressing, in the last three Premier League matches under Mikel Arteta.
“There was no clear reason why I was out, but it had nothing to do with my performance. He [Arteta] is the trainer, he decides. Of course, it’s difficult for me," Leno said to SportBild, via Sport Witness.
Leno was later asked about speculation linking him with a move to Inter, where the goalkeeper went on to hint that he could consider moving on from Arsenal in the winter transfer window.
“London is very nice; Milan is not bad either and closer to my home Stuttgart," Leno said.
“But I’m not seriously thinking about that yet. I feel comfortable at Arsenal and in London.”
“Only if nothing changes in my situation by winter would I have to think about things: what option do I have, how can I continue? But I’m concentrating on my work in training; I can’t commit to anything else at the moment.”
Arteta was asked earlier in the month about reports that he and Leno had an argument, but the Arsenal boss was quick to deny the speculation.
"No, that's not true," Arteta said of a reported rift with Leno. "He responded, you can be frustrated, but he was top with his team-mates in training with everything so that is not true.
"I don't know where they are coming from but they are ahead of me!"
Ramsdale started again at the weekend against Tottenham and the England international impressed for a third successive match, tipping the ball onto the crossbar from a really tricky shot from Lucas Moura that took a huge deflection.
The former Sheffield United shot-stopper looks set to keep his place in Arteta's team for their trip down to Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend.
