Bernardo Silva sets Man City target ahead of Premier League finale vs Brighton

Bernardo Silva says he is determined to get Manchester City over the line and secure a maiden Premier League title defence in Sunday's trip to Brighton.

Victory on the south coast will confirm the Blues as only the third team in Premier League history to win back-to-back titles, along with Manchester United and Chelsea, after their win against Leicester on Monday night ensured City's fate remains in their hands.

Pep Guardiola's side sit a point clear of second-placed Liverpool, who host Wolves on the final day, and Bernardo believes the manner of the victory against Leicester, which saw captain Vincent Kompany score a 30-yard winner, has put the Blues in a strong position.

"(It was a) very intense game, a very emotional game, because we knew we had to get the three points," the Portugal international told Sky Sports.

"To win it that way with Vincent's goal, that strike that was unbelievable, it was just fantastic.

"Three points and now on to the next one, the last game that we know we have to win to try and do something that has never been done before in this club, which is win two Premier League titles in a row."

City have beaten Brighton in all four of their meetings since Chris Hughton's side were promoted to the Premier League in 2017, but Bernardo says their meeting in this season's FA Cup semi-final, where City secured a narrow 1-0 victory, serves as reason to be wary.

"(It's a) difficult game away, we played against them in the FA Cup semi-final," he explained.

"They're a physical team, so we're not expecting an easy game, but we know we need to get the three points to win this title.

"The atmosphere in the dressing room is just fantastic, all the players, the staff, the fans - the way they pushed us this season is unbelievable. We want to win these last two games to celebrate some titles with them."
