Bernardo Silva reveals Man City reaction to Cristiano Ronaldo's Manchester United return

Bernardo Silva has sent a defiant message to returning Manchester United great Cristiano Ronaldo.

After three years in Serie A with Juventus, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner completed a sensational transfer back to Old Trafford during the summer window - and Ronaldo has already marked that second coming with five goals in his first six appearances.

Silva and Ronaldo are currently away together on international duty with Portugal.

However, when they return to their respective halves of Manchester, the pair will already have one eye on a crunch meeting between Manchester City and United at Old Trafford on Saturday, November 6.

That marks the end of a tricky run of fixtures for Ronaldo and United, who on Tuesday learned that Raphael Varane has been sidelined for a few weeks.

As for Silva, meanwhile, the 27-year-old has returned to Pep Guardiola's regular line-up in recent weeks having been linked with his own switch this summer.

While the City forward is happy to see Ronaldo head back to the city, he says the Premier League champions will do their utmost to get the better of the iconic Portuguese captain.

Silva said: "It's a good move for him. We weren't [saying 'oh no']. It's his choice and a good move for him.

"He played at Man United when he was younger and it's nice, almost at the end - I don't know when he is going to finish - to go back to Man United.

"Hopefully we can beat him. We are going to work very hard to beat him."
