Bernardo Silva outlines the truth about Liverpool and Man City

Bernardo Silva is hoping to keep up his 100% home record against Liverpool but admits their games with Manchester City are “always unpredictable.”

The Reds have lost their last three Premier League visits to the Etihad Stadium and their former player Mark Lawrenson has ended a 159-game sequence of not tipping them to get beat in his BBC Sport column despite them going into Sunday’s fixture on top of the table.

Silva – who branded Liverpool fans who contacted him on social media after City’s Champions League exit last season as “pathetic”told his club’s website : “We expect a very tough match against Liverpool, we know how strong and solid they are, one of the best teams in the world.

“They are also a direct rival for the Premier League’s title, so we know how difficult it will be, but like in every game our aim is to win.

“We are also playing at home, which should have a positive influence.

“We need these three points in order to pursue our place at the top of the table.

“The truth is that our last encounters with Liverpool at the Etihad were positive for us.”

The 26-year-old Portuguese international midfielder, who signed for City from Monaco in a £43.5million deal in 2017, added: “Since I have joined City, we won all our games against Liverpool at home in the Premier League, but these games are always unpredictable.

“We’ll do everything to keep winning and to win on Sunday.

“We know it will not be easy, but we will do everything we can.”
