Manchester City forward Bernardo Silva has declared a four-team Premier League title race for this season.
Having reigned supreme for a third time in four years, figures responsible for transfers at the Etihad Stadium broke the £100million barrier to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa during the summer window.
They failed in a follow-up pursuit for England striker Harry Kane, meanwhile, as neighbours Manchester United and Chelsea issued their own multi-million statements of intent in a market that was expected to have been supressed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
United brought in Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
Romelu Lukaku marked the main piece of business for Chelsea as he touched back down in the Premier League for £97.5million from Serie A champions Inter Milan.
Identifying those two clubs and Liverpool as the main contenders this season, Portuguese star Bernardo knows City will have their work cut out to pick up a fourth title in five years.
Asked if Liverpool - the only other team to land the big one since 2017 - are City's main title rivals, he replied: "They are one of our main rivals.
