Bernardo Silva explains Man City exit thoughts as Pep Guardiola creates Cristiano Ronaldo gameplan

Here are your Manchester City evening headlines for Friday, March 4.

Bernardo Silva on wanting to leave

Bernardo Silva has opened up on his request to leave City last year, telling fans it had nothing to do with his affection for the club. It emerged over the summer that Bernardo was looking for a transfer out of City, and his stance was confirmed at the start of the new season by Pep Guardiola.

City did not receive any acceptable bids for Bernardo, however, so the Portuguese midfielder has remained at the Etihad this season and has shown signs of his very best form since joining the club.

Guardiola's gameplan for Ronaldo

Guardiola has confirmed his City plan to stop the 'almost unstoppable' Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is under pressure at Manchester United as they try to rescue their season, with the serial Ballon d'Or winner among those in their squad struggling to reach the heights expected. But he remains a world-class finisher, as Guardiola knows.

The City boss spoke of the half-chance Ronaldo conjured up in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford that nearly took away the control the visitors had on the game. Ahead of their meetings at the Etihad, Guardiola has told his players they need to do everything they can to avoid Ronaldo getting possession inside the box.
