Bernardo Silva aims further dig at Liverpool fans as war of words escalates

Bernardo Silva took another swipe at Liverpool fans on social media just 24 hours after initially hitting out at them.

The Manchester City midfielder was summing up his thoughts after what has been a disappointing season.

Silva had won the Premier League title in each of his first two seasons in England as well as three other domestic cups.

But City's underwhelming season means they only have the EFL Cup to show for their efforts.

Liverpool were able to usurp Silva's side at the top of the table and the Anfield faithful clearly rubbed the midfield up the wrong way.

On Monday he tweeted: "I guess reading a book was a bit too much for you... maybe just go for a brew."

That came after his initial rant a day earlier which saw him say: "And to all Liverpool fans that have nothing else to do than to come to a Man City player account, I’m also sorry for you but for the wrong reasons... pathetic... go celebrate your titles, or try to find a partner, drink a beer with a friend, read a book... so many options!"

City's season ended in Lisbon as they lost in the last eight of the Champions League for a third straight year.

Lyon won a controversial match 3-1 in the city where Silva was born.

Inconsistencies have hindered Pep Guardiola's team throughout the season and they never looked like threatening Liverpool.

They were also on the wrong end of an upset in the FA Cup semi-final as Arsenal, led by former City no 2 Mikel Arteta, won 2-0 en route to lifting the trophy.

The Etihad hierarchy have already moved to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season with two new faces.

Nathan Ake arrives from Bournemouth to sure up what has been a leaky defence and highly-rated Spanish youngster Ferran Torres joins from Valencia.
