Bernard O’Shea says he put Jennifer Zamparelli off red heads for life after working together

Bernard O’Shea turned co-host Jennifer Zamparelli off red heads after years of working together.

The 40-year-old hung up his mic in May when RTE’s Breakfast Republic was scrapped and Jen got her own slot.

The pair co-wrote and starred in the hilarious comedy Bridget And Eamon which was on TV for four seasons.

Laois man Bernard told the Irish Mirror: “I remember one day I was up at 5.30am, on air with Jen in the same room.

“After this we get on to a set together for 13 hours in one room for the whole day, we did six years of this. I’m pretty sure I put her off red-headed men for life.”

The dad of three admitted they fought like cats and dogs, adding: “The amount of rows we had and she’s very feisty, we were consistently always able to get on the wrong side of each other but we were always able to get back on one side.

“But she was great and her work ethic is incredible.”

Bernard is making his theatrical debut in Little Miss Sunshine at the Olympia Theatre from August 13 to 17.

He plays grandpa Hoover, the role made famous by Alan Arkin in the movie.
