Bernard explains why West Ham goal will unlock new side of his Everton game

Bernard has made a prediction over his goalscoring after bagging his first Premier League strike for Everton against West Ham on Saturday.

The Brazilian was fantastic throughout as the Blues dominated at the London Stadium and cruised to a 2-0 win.

Two goals in the first half were enough to make sure Marco Silva's side returned to Merseyside with all three points - with Bernard following up an early Kurt Zouma header for the visitors.

That was the winger's first Premier League goal for the club since making the move to Goodison Park in the summer, with his only other strike for the club coming in the FA Cup against Lincoln City.

Everton target Rafael Leao sparks dramatic comeback with goalscoring display

However, this isn't the first time Bernard has faced a goalscoring drought, with a similar spell occurring during his time with Atletico Miniero - after which he went on to bag 11 goals in 30 games.

"I think I have played some good matches for Everton but, especially because I scored, I think it was my best match," Bernard told  evertontv .

"It was a very happy moment for me. Scoring is very important for a forward.

"The first one is always the toughest. It was the same for me when I played for Atletico.

"It took a little while [to open my account] but after the first goal went in, a lot of goals came.

"Now I can be more calm and it is going to be natural for more goals to come."
