Bermondsey death: Man 'falls from height' as cops probe 'unexplained' tragedy

A man has died after falling from a height in South London.

The tragedy happened in Bermondsey shortly after 5am, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police confirmed this morning that the man's death is being treated as unexplained.

He died at the scene, despite efforts by paramedics to save him.

A Met Police spokesman said: "Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at approximately 5.20am on Friday, 10 May to reports of a man fallen from height on Marden Square, SE16.

"Officers attended. The man was pronounced dead at 5.47am.

"Next of kin are yet to be informed. The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

"Enquiries continue."

Local councillor Hamish McCallum, Lib Dem, wrote on Twitter: "Terrible news. Thoughts and prayers with his family."
