Visitors to one of Berlin‘s most famous nightclubs have been urged to immediately visit a doctor and get checked for bacterial meningitis.
Authorities in the German capital said one visitor to the KitKatClub who is suffering from the life-threatening illness likely contracted the disease there on Saturday.
They fear other clubbers may have been exposed to the contagious disease which is renowned for kinky sex on the dance floor and anything-goes techno parties which draw visitors from around the world.
Guests are allowed to openly engage in sexual intercourse openly at the venue, which has a strict dress code requiring fetish, latex, leather, kinky, high style and glamorous wear.
Founded in 1994 by Austrian porn director Simon Thaur, the club posted a notice on Facebook that the man was severe condition after he was taken to hospital and he was therefore unable to detail what sexual contact he had at the club.
"This happened today during the day," it said. "Unfortunately, the sick guest is very bad."
Bacterial meningitis can be spread via saliva and close body contact. Common symptoms include strong headaches, high fever, a stiff neck, dizziness and weakness. Within a few hours, the disease can become life-threatening.
The man who beaome infected at the KitKatClub became severely ill, the Deutsche Welle news agency reported.
