A primary school in Berlin has been evacuated by police over a suspected “threat situation”.
Pupils and teachers were led away to safety after reports of two “suspicious” people entering the building, police said.
The school in the German capital’s northern Gesundbrunnen distract has been cordoned off and residents were urged to avoid the area while police searched the building on Tuesday morning.
Police spokesman Thomas Neuendorf said a person outside the school reported seeing two suspicious people entering at about 10am local time (8am GMT).
Pictures on social media showed armed police at the scene, as well as parents and press at the cordon.
About 100 officers were deployed and conducted an extensive search of the school but no threat was found and the area was declared safe about four hours later.
“Thankfully, we haven’t found anybody suspicious," said Mr Neuendorf.
It comes two days after police shot and wounded a man who “rampaged” through Berlin cathedral with a knife. The 53-year-old Austrian suffered serious leg injuries and a police officer who was trying to restrain him was also hurt.
Sunday’s incident was not thought to be linked to terrorism.
