Bergwijn, Sessegnon, Davies – the latest Tottenham injury news ahead of Aston Villa clash

Tottenham will be looking to restore their Premier League form on Sunday with victory over Aston Villa.

Spurs managed to get back to winning ways in the Europa Conference League on Thursday with a 5-1 thrashing of Slovenian side NS Mura.

But having lost their last three league fixtures to Crystal Palace, Chelsea, and north London rivals Arsenal, the mood around the club is still in need of a boost.

Nevertheless, a win over an in-form Villa side will help to boost confidence ahead of the international break.

With that in mind, there aren’t too many injury concerns for Nuno Espirito Santo to contend with, so here’s the very latest team news in N17.

Steven Bergwijn

Bergwijn has taken his time to recover having sustained an injury during the most recent international break.

The Netherlands international's last outing for Tottenham was their European clash with French team Rennes, where he picked up a foot problem.

Speaking before the clash with Mura, Espirito Santo said : "I'm not even considering that scenario because what we want is the situation solved before. Some guidance before so we can communicate to our players and tell the best way to deal with the situation.

"In terms of team news nothing has changed, Steven unfortunately is still out. He cannot join the group."

Ryan Sessegnon

Sessegnon has also been missing for a few weeks after the winger picked up an injury while on international duty with England's Under-21s team.

The 21-year-old, who was linked with an exit from north London over the summer transfer window, will be hoping to return to action sooner rather than later, but Nuno was unable to tell the media when he would be back when speaking about him earlier in the month.

He said: "We don't know [when he will return]. They are improving, day by day, but alongside the South American players, we still have to assess them."

Ben Davies

Davies missed Thursday night's game at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium because of suspected appendicitis.

His target return date is still unknown but hopefully he will be fit to continue playing soon.
