SAMUT SONGKHRAM - Police arrested a woman after finding one kilogramme of crystal methamphetamine, aka “ice”, hidden under the bonnet of her Mercedes-Benz and a pistol on the back seat, in Muang district early Sunday morning.
Muang Samut Songkhram police identified the 29-year-old woman only as Chanittha.
Acting on an informant's tip off police stopped her white Mercedes, plate number E200 CGI registered in Chathaburi province, on Chaiyapon Road in tambon Mae Klong at 12.30am.
They found an unregistered .45 Colt 1911 handgun, loaded with seven bullets, in a case on the back seat.
A subsequent search found a kilo of crystal meth hidden under the car's bonnet.
The woman allegedly told police she had just sent three kilogrammes of “ice” and five bags of methamphetamine pills to a buyer in Suphan Buri province.
She was quoted as saying that she had no other work and had just a short time earlier picked up five sacks of meth pills and four kilogrammes of “ice” from Bueng Kan province. She kept one kilogramme of crystal meth as her fee and was about to sell it to another buyer for 100,000 baht.
She was being held in custody. The investigation was continuing.
