Bentley Continental GT Limited Edition celebrates Pikes Peak record

BENTLEY has announced details of a striking Continental GT Limited Edition to celebrate its record-breaking feat at the famous Pikes Peak hillclimb.

Earlier this year, champion driver Rhys Millen shaved 8.4 seconds off the existing record for the fastest-ever production car at the Colorado course. He steered the W12-powered machine through 156 bends on the 12.42-mile run that climbs almost 5000ft in just 10 minutes and 18.4 seconds.

Now the luxury British car maker is honouring the accomplishment by building just 15 special Limited Edition coupes. It is marked out by a carbon-fibre body kit, acid green paintwork mirroring the colour of the record-breaking car, and gloss black detailing.

Other eye-catching features include acid green brake calipers, Pikes Peak decals and an optional “100” grille as a reminder that the achievement took place in Bentley’s centenary year.

The sporty-looking inside is swathed in Alcantara with contrasting green stitching and carbon-fibre trim, complemented by a piano black centre console. There are also Pikes Peak design cues for the passenger-side fascia, headrests, treadplates and speaker covers.

The record-breaking engine, meanwhile, develops 626bhp to power the car to 60mph in 3.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 207mph.

The brand’s sales chief, Chris Craft, said: “It reflects Bentley’s spirit of endeavour, one that has been a constant throughout the last 100 years and remains at the beating heart of the company.”
