After running ads that touted his bipartisan efforts in Congress for most of the campaign, Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet went on the attack this week against Republican challenger Darryl Glenn.
A 30-second ad that asks "What do you really know about Darryl Glenn?" goes through Glenn's disbelief of climate change, his anti-abortion stance, and his plan to cut the Department of Education, The Denver Post reported.
The ad comes as polls have tightened in a key race to determine which party will control the Senate in the next Congress. Bennet's lead had been in double digits but the most recent Real Clear Politics average of polls in the state showed Bennet with a 6-point lead.
"Michael Bennet's recent media buy is nothing but a last-ditch effort to appeal to Coloradans as his campaign stalls and mine surges in this final week," Glenn said in a statement released by his campaign.
The Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report/Roll Call rates the race Safe Democrat.
The Bennet campaign wouldn't say how much it would spend on the ad, but it's expected to run through Election Day.
