Benjamin Siegrist responds to Celtic transfer interest as Dundee United star makes 'next step' claim

Benjamin Siegrist says he is ready to make the 'next step' in his career as he continues to be linked with a move to Celtic.

The Dundee United keeper has attracted interest from several clubs around Europe due to his impressive performances for the Tangerines.

Neil Lennon's side have reportedly been watching the 28-year-old 'for some time' as they look to solve their problem area in between the sticks.

And Siegrist admits the January window could be an interesting period for the goalie and that a switch to the Bundesliga would be very appealing.

He told Swiss website Blick: "It could be an interesting transfer period, I’ll just let it come to me. I’m happy at Dundee United and grateful that they put me in this shop window.

"My goal is to play at the highest level. I am ready for the next step”.

"(My agent) does this work for me. But of course: the Bundesliga would be very attractive!

"As long as my performance is right, I am certainly in a strong position."

Summer signing Vasilis Barkas has struggled to settle at Parkhead and has shared the no.1 jersey with Conor Hazard and Scott Bain throughout the first half of the season.

Celtic's issues at the back have been well documented this term and could look to strengthen his options this month.
