Benjamin Siegrist Dundee United transfer news as they turf out six-figure Ipswich Town bid

Dundee United have turned down an opening offer from Ipswich Town for Benjy Siegrist.

Record Sport revealed last month that the English League One side were keen on United’s player of the year.

The Tractor Boys have now tabled a six figure bid that the Tannadice club has knocked back.

Ipswich are expected to come back with an improved bid but it remains to be seen if it will be enough.

The Swiss keeper is in the final year of his contract and looks unlikely to sign a new deal with the Premiership side.

The issue for Ipswich is that the English clubs are trying to reduce their spending - despite the fact the wage capping rule has now been removed.

Celtic has also been linked with Siegrist but that is unlikely to happen.

Dundee United are back to pre-season training under new boss Tam Courts.

He is still looking to strengthen his squad and is hopeful of landing former St Mirren midfielder Jake Doyle Hayes.

United have made an offer and are confident a deal is close.
