Benjamin Mendy reveals Man City dressing room reaction after draw with Crystal Palace

Benjamin Mendy has revealed that his Man City teammates were 'angry and sad' after the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

City had gone 1-0 down to Palace in the first-half after Cenk Tosun's opener but remained the dominant team as they pushed to get back into the game.

They left it late but equalised in the 82nd minute when Sergio Aguero stretched to reach Gabriel Jesus' cross and nudge the ball in at the back post.

Just five minutes later the comeback was complete as Aguero pounced again, this time with his head, to send the Etihad into raptures.

The joyous atmosphere didn't last long, however, as Palace mounted a shock comeback of their own in the last minute, as Wilfried Zaha powered down the left and sent a powerful cross into the box which was turned into his own net by Fernandinho.

City completely controlled the game, having 73 per cent possession and 25 shots compared to the Eagles' 5, but still couldn't get the win and Mendy has shared what the reaction was like in the dressing room afterwards.

"Football is like this - that's why it's beautiful," the Frenchman said.

"At the end of the game, we are all angry and sad. I think we deserved more. In the first half, we could have scored with a lot of chances. They defended well - we know they have quality.

"In the second, half, we came back nicely with the 2-1, but after that, in the last minute they scored again."

Liverpool now have the opportunity to move 16 points clear at the top of the table if they beat Manchester United on Sunday, and they still have a game in hand to come.

Mendy has told his teammates that they now need to move on from the disappointment and look ahead to the upcoming fixtures.

"The feeling, the atmosphere... we believed we could score. We were winning the game. The emotion was crazy.

"In football, you have to be focused until the end. For one or two seconds, we were not ready and anything can happen.

"We tried to play like Man City play. Today, we drew and we need to forget the game and look forward."
