Benjamin Mendy reacts to his Man City return in FA Cup semi-final victory against Brighton

Benjamin Mendy has reacted after making his first Manchester City start in 146 days in the FA Cup semi-final victory over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Pep Guardiola was handed a selection headache ahead of the trip to Wembley after losing Aleks Zinchenko in the 2-0 victory against Cardiff City.

The Ukrainian has been Mendy's stand in while he's been out of action and Guardiola faced the prospect of playing either Aymeric Laporte or Danilo out of position on the left if the Frenchman couldn't make it.

Thankfully he did and played a key part in a surprisingly tough afternoon for City, who ground out a 1-0 win thanks to Gabriel Jesus' 4th minute goal.

Mendy played the majority of the game on his return and was only substituted after 79 minutes and he reacted in typical Mendy fashion on his Instagram account.

Mendy made his first start since the 3-1 derby victory against Manchester United and his first appearance since the Carabao Cup second leg win over Burton Albion, where he came on for the final 30 minutes.

The 24-year-old has missed the majority of the season due to struggling to recover from knee surgery.

City will be hoping he remains fit and is ready for Tuesday's trip to Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League as City are desperately short on full-backs after Kyle Walker went off with a hamstring injury at half-time at Wembley.
