Benjamin Mendy leads Manchester City players sending messages to Leroy Sane after injury news

Benjamin Mendy has sent Manchester City teammate Leroy Sane some valuable advice after the extent of the winger's injury was revealed.

City confirmed that Sane damaged his ACL in his right knee against Liverpool in the Community Shield and will need surgery that will keep him out of action for some time.

Luckily for Sane, there is no tear to the ACL which could have kept him out all season, but he is still expected to miss a large portion of the new campaign.

Someone familiar with Sane's position is Mendy, who has spent much of his two years at City on the physio table. This summer, he underwent surgery on his troublesome knee and is working his way back to fitness at the City Football Academy.

On hearing the news of Sane's injury, Mendy sent a classy message to his teammate, saying: "My brother. I know this too well unfortunately.. It's a long and difficult path that I know you will go through.

"And I also know you will shine even brighter after that. Keep your head high as always. Love u bro."

Kevin de Bruyne, another City player who suffered from injury last season, tweeted: "Champion you will be back soon. You know this team will stand beside you and help you."

Nicolas Otamendi sent a 'Get Well Soon' message.

Aymeric Laporte took to Instagram to send his best wishes.

Fernandinho repeated De Bruyne's promise of support from the rest of the City squad.

Gabriel Jesus wished Sane well.
