BENGALURU: Two persons, including a woman, were killed in separate accidents reported post-midnight on Saturday.
Savaralu Tara Badayik, 23, who was riding her scooter at Ashwathnagar on HBR Main Road around 12.30am, fell into a roadside drain after the vehicle skid. She died before reaching hospital.
Police said Badayik was from Nepal and worked as a cook at a residence of a private firm employee. She lived in HBR Layout. Badayik was moving towards her residence from Saraipalya around 12.30am with her friend Dileep on pillion when she lost control of the vehicle and both fell from it. Badayik fell into the drain and sustained severe injuries. Passersby rushed both to a nearby private hospital. But she breathed her last on the way. Banasawadi traffic police have taken up a case and a probe is under way.
In the other case, a 50-year-old private firm employee died, and his colleague sustained minor injuries after he crashed his scooter into a median on Varthur Main Road around 2.30am.
Whitefield traffic police identified the deceased as Ranjan Roy, a resident of Thubarahalli and HR manager with a private firm. His colleague Kruthika Singh, 23, sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Police said the accident occurred when they were returning home after attending a party. Roy, from West Bengal, lost control of his vehicle while coming from the Kundalahalli underpass towards Thubarahalli on Varthur Main Road and hit the road divider and then an electric pole. He died instantly. Whitefield traffic police have registered a case.
