Bengaluru Traffic Police has issued a public advisory warning residents of possible traffic disruptions and waterlogging after the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) forecast heavy rainfall across the city between June 7 and June 9, 2026.
In a statement released on Sunday, the traffic police urged motorists and commuters to exercise caution while travelling, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall and remain alert to changing road conditions.
According to the advisory, heavy showers could affect traffic movement across several parts of Bengaluru over the next three days, increasing the risk of waterlogged roads, traffic congestion, and delays. Authorities have asked drivers to slow down in areas experiencing flooding and avoid attempting to cross submerged stretches of road.
The Bengaluru Traffic Police also encouraged residents to stay updated through official communication channels and make use of the BTP ASTraM App for real-time traffic information, route diversions, and emergency updates. The department said the app and its social media platforms will provide regular alerts to help commuters plan their journeys safely.
A rainfall forecast map shared along with the advisory indicates varying levels of precipitation across Bengaluru Urban district during the three-day period. While light to moderate rainfall is expected initially, some areas could witness heavier showers as the weather system intensifies.
The warning comes as Bengaluru enters an active monsoon phase, with authorities closely monitoring weather developments and preparing for possible traffic challenges caused by water accumulation on roads. The city has historically faced disruptions during heavy rainfall, prompting traffic police to issue precautionary advisories ahead of significant weather events.
