BENGALURU: Acting on a tip-off from the public, Hulimavu traffic police detained a 17-year-old boy, who was performing wheelies on the busy Bannerghatta Road on Friday.
When cops were approaching him, the minor tried to ride away, which led to a 1km chase. The boy's father claimed he was unaware of his son riding away his gearless scooter. "But it doesn't prove his innocence. The father has been booked for handing over the two-wheeler to a minor. The boy will be produced before the juvenile court and the father before a traffic court," an investigating officer said.
Police added that the father is likely to be fined Rs 5,000 by the traffic court.
