Toppers were preparing for entrance tests when results were announced

Toppers from outside Karnataka in top 10 are: Kanishk Sharma from Uttar Pradesh (fourth), Sneha Pareek from Guwahati (eighth), Vishaka Agarwal from Jaipur (ninth), Srijan Ranjan from Jharkhand (10th).

UGET 2022 for admissions to undergraduate engineering courses in private engineering colleges in Karnataka for the academic year 2022-23 was held on June 19. The test was conducted online in 230 centres in 154 cities. As many as 57,387 candidates, including 36,278 from outside Karnataka, wrote it.

Of the 5,620 candidates between the 80th and 90th percentile, 1,753 candidates are from Karnataka.

The toppers were busy preparing for the upcoming entrances when the results were announced. "Venkat was just entering the exam hall for BITS-Pilani entrance test when his teacher informed him about the first rank. It might have boosted his confidence," said his father Amarendra N, an engineer with TCS, Whitefield.

The second rank holder - Vishal of Mahesh PU College in Chamarajpet - was in a six-hour internal test and had not heard about his result until Tuesday evening. Son of a techie couple, Vishal is also targeting JEE Advanced. "He is disciplined and puts in a lot of effort. He spends 7-10 hours in his studies and that would have definitely helped," said Vishal's father Suresh Bysani.

Third rank holder Apoorv wants to pursue mechanical or electronics once he cracks the entrance tests. "Physics comes naturally to me. I'd rather look at my passion than salary," said Apoorv, of NPS-Yelahanka.

Rank cards have been generated and are available to the candidates in their 'applicant login' on the ComedK website (www.comedk.org).
