Bengaluru: School bus falls into quarry, driver hurt

Bengaluru : A 32-year-old school bus driver sustained injuries after the bus he was driving fell into a quarry at Kudlu Parappana Agrahara road on Thursday. Subramani, the driver, reportedly lost control while trying to avoid hitting a two-wheeler.

The bus belongs to Freedom International School, HSR Layout. At 7. 30am, the bus was on its way to pick students up for school.

Subramani tried to avoid hitting a two-wheeler coming on the right of the road, resulting in the bus entering a ditch on the left and falling into the 15-ft deep quarry.

“The spot had no retaining wall or median that could have prevented the vehicle from falling into the quarry,” said police. Locals demanded BBMP close the pit permanently or construct a strong support wall to prevent incidents.
