BENGALURU: A 31-year-old undertrial, arrested on charged of raping a kid, committed suicide inside Central Jail at Parappana Agrahara on Saturday morning.
While police suspect he took the extreme step out of guilt, investigation is on. The man was found dead in the bathroom with a blanket around her neck and tied to the window grill around 5:25am.
A truck driver and father of two young girls, the accused was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting his two-year-old niece and murdering her near Attibele.
According to police, he had taken the kid out for a drive on March 20, after telling the family members that they were going to buy chicken. On the way, he stopped the car and and allegedly sexually assaulted her. When the horror-stricken girl cried for help, he slapped her hard, which is said to have resulted in her death.
The crime was exposed when cops received the girl’s autopsy report, which revealed she had been sexually assaulted. Subsequently, he was arrested on March 23.
