BENGALURU: Accuracy will be the buzzword when the ninth leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour gets under way at the compact par-69, 6,018-yard Bangalore Golf Club course here on Wednesday.
The short but tricky course can be unforgiving if you stray off the tee. The 27 pros and five amateurs in the fray got a taste of it during the practice round on Tuesday. The one who is spot-on from tee to green will be the last one standing on Friday.
In-form Pranavi Urs, with three wins in eight starts, will look to add another this week. The 19-year-old Mysurean has been striking the ball well and quite confident on the greens this season. “I feel pretty confident, and I need to be good off the tees,” Pranavi said after her practice round.
HITAASHEE RETURNS
There are quite a few pros who have the wherewithal to go all the way. Hitaashee Bakshi, winner of two titles this season, is back after missing two events last month due to her 12th board exams. She will be watched with interest.
So too will Sneha Singh. The Hyderabadi, who won the second leg as an amateur, will hope to make her pro debut this week a memorable one. Gaurika Bishnoi, who has won here before, Saaniya Sharma, Seher Atwal and Afshan Fatima to name a few, too will fancy their chances.
Order of Merit (Top 5): 1. Pranavi Urs; 2. Jahanvi Bakshi; 3. Ridhima Dilawari; 4. Gaurika Bishnoi; 5. Hitaashee Bakshi.
