BENGALURU: As the second of the six stretches of Metro’s Phase 2 gets operationalised, the corridors identified by BMRCL two years ago for development under Phase 3 still remain in planning stage.
“We propose to take up Phase 3 in two corridors: ORR West Line (Kempapura to JP Nagar 4th Phase, covering 32.1 km) and Magadi Road Line (Hosahalli station to Kadabagere — 12.8km). A detailed project report is being prepared,” said a BMRCL official. In 2019, BMRCL identified three corridors under Phase 3: Magadi Road Toll Gate to Kadabagere (13km), Whitefield–-Domlur (16km) and Katamnallur Gate (near Hoskote)-Sarjapur Road- Hebbal (52km).A 34km underground corridor along Inner Ring Road and Hebbal to JP Nagar (ORR-West) was also proposed .
Phase 2 land acquisition over
“Land acquisition for phase 2 has been completed and works on the sections are in various stages of completion. The entire network will be completed by March 2025,” said the official. In the 58.2km ORR-Airport Line, civil contracts have been awarded and 100% land acquisition is over for Phase 2A Outer Ring Road section from Central Silk Board-KR Puram. For Phase-2B (KR Puram-KIA), civil tenders are at an advanced stage and should be awarded by October 2021.
