BENGALURU: A special court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act on Thursday held a 51-year-old man guilty of raping his minor daughter in 2015 and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment of 20 years.
Public prosecutor KV Ashwathnarayana said the girl was sexually assaulted when her mother had gone to her parental home in Bihar. The mother had taken her younger daughter and son with her, leaving the elder daughter with her husband in their makeshift shed in Bengaluru.
The convict had raped the girl, who was 13 years then, several times between January 8, 2015 and February 19, 2015. The mother was reluctant to file a police complaint. Neighbours, however, alerted the Child Welfare Committee.
