BENGALURU: Hundreds of people turned up on Sunday to witness Sadhguru's 'Save Soil' event at Palace Grounds where his Isha Foundation signed an MoU with the state government on saving soil.
Chants of "save soil" reverberated in the air as chief minister Basavaraj Bommai and Sadhguru exchanged the MoU documents. Health minister K Sudhakar, education minister BC Nagesh and former CM BS Yediyurappa took part in the event. Yediyurappa was seen taking the blessings of Sadhguru by touching his feet.
Sadhguru came to the venue riding his Rs 25-lakh BMW 1600 GT superbike, on which he recently went on a global tour.
He handed to the CM the Save Soil policy handbook, offering practical and scientific solutions that can be put into action based on soil type, latitudinal positions, and agricultural traditions.
Addressing the gathering, Sadhguru said Save Soil has not only been a long journey, but also an incredible activity that has seen fantastic work by volunteers from all around the world. "I don't have to say anything about India. All the states we passed through have signed an MoU with the movement," he said.
It was Sadhguru's 598th Save Soil event. "Four days ago, we had touched over 3.2 billion people. This shows people are not unaware, people are not insensitive; it's just that it's never been activated."
Promising action on the ground to revive soil fertility, Bommai said: "I promise, we will do everything under our command to save the soil." He said Karnataka is the first state in the country that has created an environment budget and set aside Rs 100 crore for it. Listing out the actions needed for organic content in soil to increase, he said: "Whatever action plans are required and whatever implementation is needed, we will begin immediately."
Later in the evening, Sadhguru's Save Soil movement reached his hometown Mysuru, with him covering a whopping 27,854 km on his solo bike journey to create awareness on the cause. Sadhguru addressed a gathering at the jam-packed amphitheatre of University of Mysore.
