Bengaluru: Half-burnt body of man found in garbage heap

BENGALURU: A half-charred body of an unidentified man was found inside a garbage heap near Nagavara traffic junction on Saturday.

BBMP staff were clearing the dump when they came across the body which has now been shifted to the mortuary of Ambedkar hospital.

As a rule, cops have to keep such bodies in the freezer and search for the family members or persons known to the deceased. When recognition becomes impossible, cops declare it an unidentified body, send for a postmortem and later perform last rites.

Cops suspect the victim to be one of the ragpickers who frequented the place to collect waste materials.

“The victim must have been killed over some issue. The killers seem to have set the body on fire and fled,” Govindapura police said.
