BENGALURU: Electronics City Metro Neo network is finally taking shape. The Metro Neo, a trolleybus system with overhead electric traction, can run on elevated or at-grade cement roads.
Electronics City Industrial Township Authority (ELCITA) is planning to come up with a Metro Neo network connecting two upcoming stations on Yellow Line (RV Road-Bommasandra) and companies for last-mile connectivity.
Prior to Covid-19, around 1.1 lakh people travelled to E-City for work daily.Sources said Electronics City Metro Neo is likely to be called ‘Tech Halli Express’. It is likely to have a 5-km network in the first phase with 10 stations: Infosys Foundation Konappana Agrahara Station, Timken, Velankani, 3M India, Phase-3, Wipro, Infosys, Interflex Electronics, Happiest Minds, Electronics City Metro Station. On September 9, 2021, TOI was the first to publish a related report — ‘Electronics City may get Bengaluru’s first Metro Neo network’.
An electric trolley bus can carry 250 passengers at a speed of 60kmph. tnn
