BENGALURU: Two bike-borne chain-snatchers struck at five places over a large area stretching from Anekal on the southeast periphery of Bengaluru city to Devanahalli on the north on Wednesday morning.
Apart from checking vehicles at checkpoints across the city for the two miscreants who were astride a Bajaj Pulsar, all circle inspectors were assigned to check hotels and lodges in their jurisdictions.
"Circle inspectors led the operations in their respective areas on Wednesday night," said Kona Vamshi Krishna, superintendent of police (Bengaluru district).
The duo struck first at 8.30am and continued with the chain-snatching spree till 11.30am. They snatched five chains in three hours. Earlier on Tuesday evening, they struck once at Hebbagodi. In five of the six incidents, the duo committed the crime on the pretext of seeking an address. They used the same bike to commit the offences.

At 10.45am, they went to Dodda Aralagere village near Sulibele and targeted Roopa, 26, after which they headed towards Channarayapattana. The duo reached Mallepura village by 10.55am and snatched the chain of Mamata, 28. Their last target was a 50-year-old woman, Manula, at Mandur village.
