Bengaluru: Crater appears on MES flyover; fixed temporarily

BENGALURU: A flyover on the busy Outer Ring Road stretch between Goraguntepalya and New BEL Circle, which had developed problems with the formation of a huge crater, has been temporarily fixed using steel plates.

Officials from BBMP said MES flyover was being maintained by all civic agencies. “For now, the problem is sorted. We shall discuss with railway officials and plan for a permanent solution,” an official said.

The flyover has developed a problem for the second time. The big pothole was created by the collapse of concrete this time. The 670m flyover, which connects east and west Bengaluru, was closed for maintenance in July-August 2020.

“Substandard work by civic agencies has been the biggest problem here,” said Badri, a resident of Vidyaranyapura.

“This flyover is mostly used by heavy vehicles. The pressure on the road is heavier than expected. I feel it is dangerous to use it,” Harish, a resident of MS Palya, said.
