Bengaluru: Cops take week to identify burnt body of woman, nab killer-spouse

BENGALURU: The mystery behind the burnt body of a woman found near Kengeri on July 3 has been cracked, with the arrest of her second husband and his friend.

After elaborate scouring of their jurisdiction for over a week, Kengeri police on Monday identified the deceased as Nageena Khanum, 26, a resident of Suncity, Kengeri Satellite Town. She was from Tumakuru and worked as housekeeping staffer with a firm.

The accused are her husband Mohammed Manjoor Ahmed Hanagi alias Mohammed Rafiq (top right in pic), 29, from Yadgir and his friend Prajwal H, 21, of Karim Sonnenahalli near Doddaballapur. Both accused work as JCB operators. afiq suspected Nageena of infidelity and decided to eliminate her. The accused allegedly bludgeoned her to death in an old building on the outskirts of Rayasandra village on July 1. They later burnt the body and threw the remains in the bushes. The decomposed body was spotted on July 3 by a passerby. Kengeri police registered a case. West division police had formed five teams to crack the case.
