Bengaluru: Cabbie stabbed by passenger over fare

BENGALURU: A quarrel over ride fare between a passenger and a cab driver turned violent as the disgruntled customer stabbed the driver and ran away midway through the journey.

The incident was reported at Madiwala police station by the cab driver’s friend and police have registered an FIR under sections of Indian Penal Code covering assault.

The attack took place between 3.30am and 4am on Sunday. The passenger had boarded the cab at Bommasandra Circle and escaped from it after stabbing the driver with a knife near Ayyappaswamy Temple on Hosur Road.

“We do not know who the assaulter is. We are waiting to record the victim’s statement and begin our investigation,” a police officer said.

The driver is from Hassan district. “He sustained injuries to his back but is out of danger now,” the officer said.
