Bengaluru: Bar bender killed, neighbour injured in hit-and-run case

BENGALURU: A 33-year-old man died while his neighbour sustained injuries when an unidentified vehicle rammed their motorbike on 100 Feet Ring Road at BTM Layout in the early hours of Tuesday.

The deceased is Manjunath M, a bar bender and resident of Peenya II Stage. Manjunath’s neighbour, Yellamma, has been shifted to KC General Hospital in Malleswaram and is under observation, Mico Layout traffic police said.

Manjunath was a bachelor and hailed from Tamil Nadu. He and Yellamma were riding towards Tirumala temple in Tirupati, AP, when the accident occurred at 4am. The two left home around 3.30am.

According to Yellamma, the unidentified vehicle rammed their motorbike from behind. Manjunath fell to the right while she fell to the left. Manjunath came under the wheels of the unidentified vehicle and sustained serious injuries. He was shifted to St John’s, where he was declared brought dead, an officer said.

Cops have launched a hunt for the vehicle that knocked down the duo and sped away without stopping.
