BENGALURU: A day after the death of a white tigress, Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) lost a 12-year-old lioness on Saturday due to illness. Park authorities said Sana died of heart disease.
A veterinary official attached with BBP told STOI Sana was diagnosed with ascites — abnormal buildup of fluid in the abdomen. “Ever since she was diagnosed with ascites, she was put on medication and had been under intensive care since June 12. On Saturday, she failed to respond to treatment and died of cardiac tamponade,” said a member of BBP’s health advisory committee.
Born to Hema and Ganesha in April 2010, Sana had delivered 10 cubs.
