Bengals wrap minicamp after just one day

One of the teams chasing the Cleveland Browns is the in-state and AFC North rival Cincinnati Bengals. The division’s last-place team is hoping to make up some serious ground with a healthy Joe Burrow at quarterback.

Things are certainly interesting in Cincinnati. The Bengals pulled the plug on this week’s minicamp after just one practice session.

Per The Athletic, the cancellation comes as a result of a deal between head coach Zac Taylor and the player leadership on the team,

Safety Jessie Bates III, a member of the players’ leadership group and NFLPA rep, confirmed as much after the final practice of the offseason program Tuesday. Taylor agreed to send everybody off on summer vacation two days early if the Bengals could get the team’s vaccination percentage to a certain number.

The Bengals hit the 85 percent vaccination threshold needed to hold meetings in-person during the season, among other perks afforded to teams who have such a high percentage. Taylor called off the rest of minicamp as a reward to the players for getting to the vaccine goal.
